Competitors. What’s out there?

Offcut
Turning textile remnants destined for landfill into hats.

A company not aimed at changing the world through their product, but aimed at making people realise that the first step in reducing human over-consumption is to make use of the resources they’ve already invested in making.

“Offcut is a platform we can use to amplify our voice and inspire others to rethink what we so needlessly call ‘waste’.”

Their ideal idea is to run themselves out of business by inspiring every industry to use 100% of their by-products.

The company also started making bags out of faulty truck curtains.

2. Cutting Tarps

Screen Shot 2019-08-07 at 11.34.35 AM.pngTurning ‘tarp monsters’ into recycled individual products by first freeing them from eyelets, straps, belts etc.  Tarps then cut into standardised 7.8ft pieces and sent to laundry.

3. Washing

Screen Shot 2019-08-07 at 11.34.42 AM.pngWashed using 3963 gallons of rainwater and a secret tarp-wash bath additive.  After being washed and dried the tarp cuts are bundles according to colour and sent to bag design.

4. Bag Design

5. Completion
